Bridal Shower Gift and Wedding Tool Poem
65A Workable Gift for a Bridal Shower
Every new bride needs her own set of basic hand tools. A hammer, a couple of screwdrivers and a pair of pliers , can do a lot of little jobs that need immediate attention.
Even if the man of the house has all of the necessary implements for repair jobs, picture hanging and minor adjustments --even if hubby has the inclination to solve a repair problem promptly, a few simple tools that belong just to the woman of the house are very handy to have. They can also make a great wedding shower gift.
Here's a way to give a bride's gift of a few tools and make it special by adding a poem.
You also may want to spray paint the handles of the tools or paint flowers on them to make sure they are hers, alone. (No manly man wants to use a pink hammer.)
You Can Use It. Make it your own with special touches.
This is an original poem, but I am releasing it from copyright restrictions for personal (non-commercial) use.
The poem can be hand written, computer typed in a distinctive type face, and even decorated with designs of your own devising.
Someone has suggested that this could also make a good "divorce gift" or a present for a young lady getting her first apartment. [Of course, you would have to make a new poem. :) ]
If you wish, you might put theĀ gift tools in a special receptacle-- tool box or a plastic storage container.
To make it a group gift you might enlarge the tool collection, add nails, picture hangers, glue, etc.
The poem, the decorations, your own special touches will make it an unforgettable and useful gift that will always make the bride think of you.
Tool Poem Text
Friends will give you lots of things to make your house a home,
And if this seems a silly gift, just listen to my poem:
No one can give you patience and trust to hold your marriage together,
But tools will be handy when things start to bust, when boards become loose in bad weather.
While learning what happens to couples who've been hit by Cupid's dart,
You'll also learn about plumbing, and things that fall apart.
Honor and devotion you must find within yourself
But nails and glue are needed to fix a busted shelf.
Hold fast to your promises to cherish and adore.
Hold fast to you hammer to fix a sticky drawer.
The love you share together can be strengthened by a prayer,
But furniture and homes, you'll find, need regular repair.
Best wishes in getting it all together,
I love your poem! That artwork is exceptional, too. When I moved out on my own, my mom gave me my own complete set of tools, including a ratchet set. I cannot count all the times I have used them! Now that I'm married, my husband tries to borrow my tools, and I tell him to use his own. :) ;)
I sell a women's tool set in my Avon catalogs around Mother's Day, and I have seen pink and flowered sets for sale in stores. I'm glad tools are starting to be marketed for women, because they are so handy. Besides, what do you do if the man of the house isn't around or is working on another project when you want to fix something?
thanks for share.
Rochelle, I think this is a fabulous idea. Love the poem and the artwork. A woman absolutely needs a good set of tools!!! In addition to bridal showers, this would make an ideal "liberation" (divorce) gift, or even high school or college graduation, if the woman is going to be living on her own for the first time.
very nice poem..i also like your written poem and art...thanks for sharing this idea
A very attractive write up.. Keep it up. I see a grand writer in you few years down the line.
